On August 23, a new Hydrogen Refueling Station (HRS) supplied by Air Liquide opened in the DAEDO Energy bus depot, in Busan, South Korea. Entirely financed by Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) for the city of Busan, this HRS is built using Air Liquide technology and will be operated by DAEDO, a local station operator.

This new station has been designed by Air Liquide to facilitate operation and maintenance so as to help accelerate the set up of the infrastructure and the deployment of fuel cell electric vehicles (FCEV) in the area. Incorporating Air Liquide latest innovations for HRS and designed according to Korean codes and standards, it abides by international standard refueling protocols1 and makes it possible for FCEVs to refuel in 3 minutes.

South Korea is amongst the leading countries along China, Japan, Germany and the U.S. to develop hydrogen as a clean energy source. Hydrogen and FCEVs are part of the "Hydrogen Economy Roadmap of Korea" plan, which the South Korean Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport are actively implementing.

A strong supporter of this national policy, Air Liquide is committed to investing in the entire hydrogen supply chain, from production to storage, distribution and application developments for end users in South Korea. Air Liquide Korea will supply three additional HRS this year, one in Incheon City and two in Gwangju City, as part of the Government's plan to set up 310 stations in order to supply more than 67,000 FCEV in hydrogen across the country by 2022.
