Air Liquide is a committed stakeholder to new energies. It has developed technologies and expertise that span the entire biomethane value chain. The Group has designed its own membranes’ technology for upgrading biogas and enhances the value created by Anaerobic Digestion plants. These solutions enable the upgrading of all biogases for subsequent injection into the natural gas grid, the production of vehicle fuel (compressed or liquefied natural gas or biogas) and the production of renewable hydrogen from liquid biomethane. Not only a technology provider, Air Liquide makes partnerships with biogas producers and shares its experience. The Group already has two biomethane plants in operation in the United Kingdom and has a further four in construction. It operates nearly fifty biogas sites worldwide. The biomethane that is upgraded by Air Liquide can be notably used as fuel. Air Liquide operates more than 60 bio-NGV (Natural Gas for Vehicle) fueling stations in Europe, including three in the United Kingdom. They can refuel vehicles with compressed natural gas (CNG) or/and liquefied natural gas (LNG) on the same site, produced in part from biomethane. Some can also provide liquid nitrogen for cryogenic refrigerated transport.
